Menarche

What did you do this weekend? Instead of reading useless gossip sites and posting generic pictures of random six packs, I had several naked black men cut scars into my skin with razor blades to release my mother's essence as a coming of age ceremony http://www9.nationalgeographic.com/channel/taboo/index.html! No---just kidding. I'm just a tame suburban white woman who's menarche was over 2 decades ago! I guess it isn't only great to be a woman in the fucking U S of A,but it is great to be a male child here too!

Were you serious about the ammish/menonite thing? You must've broke away early to get soo proficient in computer technology? I don't think either denonomination endorses the tabboo t.v. or devil box computer?

they allowed me the computer because it was my job before i converted. A lot of them use computers to some extent in their work, not everybody can be a farmer. TV, movies, music, sports are all taboo.
I joined them in my late 20's and broke away about 5 years ago.

Very interesting! How funny--you can view TV shows, movies, music, sports on the computer! No more the "simple life" for you (pun intended).

we weren't supposed to use the computer for that. this became one of my issues later on - all of their rules were misinformed reactions. Last i heard from a friend who was still with them is they have to put all their cell phones on vibrate so they won't be tempted to listen to their ring tones. yeh, first it's ringtones and the next thing you know, you're dealing heroin down at the strip joint.

LMFAO! I don't know about "vibrate"--that might be worse than sound because feeling movement in your pocket might lead to thoughts of masterbation and ludeness. Then the world will go to hell in a handbasket!

it just gets ridiculous - the superstitions and crap. But from a bishop's perspective, it helps keep down rebellion if you keep the people ignorant and afraid to venture out.
